BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND BUSTS UNVEILING CEREMONY

Feb 4, 2023

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, Broadway Heights Community Council gathered to celebrate Black History Month with a Busts Unveiling Ceremony.  We honored two worthy heroines: nationally known, Ms. Rosa Parks and California Secretary of State, Dr. Shirley Weber.

Present at this historical event were our state and local governmental officers, proud residents of the Broadway Heights neighborhood, along with families, friends, the MLK Gospel Choir, a guest soloist and members of our trusted community partnerships.

The busts of Ms. Rosa Parks and Dr. Shirley Weber were permanently placed on the iconic, Dr.  Martin Luther King Jr Smart Technology Promenade, a space that is reserved for representations of contributors to human and Civil rights. When people pass by each bronze bust, we want them to feel emboldened and inspired to live out our council’s motto, “Each One Teach One.”

Broadway Heights  Community Council Presents "Christmas on the MLK Promenade."

December 10, 2022

This was an incredible evening of laughter and joy. There was caroling, pizza, hot chocolate, desserts, dancing, and a visit from Santa. The council provided gifts for each child, even gifts that they may share with a parent. It was another example of Broadway Heights Community Council loving on their “beloved community.”
